Hadrat Abu Hurairah (RA) reported:
The Prophet (saws) said to me; “O Abu Hurairah, Shall I show you what obnoxious things there are in the world?”
I said, “”O Prophet of Allah, show me.”
Then he (saws) took my hand and took me to a valley of Madinah and showed me a place full of carcasses, excrement, refuse, and human remains. He (saws) said, “O Abu Hurairah, there was in their heads greed and hopes like your hopes; but today they are among the rotten remains which will be consumed by the earth after some days. This is the Dunya. If you can weep at the sad plight of the world, then weep”
Then he began to weep.

When i was a kid i realized that when my room was a mess then my life was a mess. to get things in order i would go on haunting cleaning binges that would attempt to determine the origin and destination of every shred of paper and speck of dust anywhere my trailed tracked in my home.
As an adult i have learned to extend that metaphor. Look at the world today and our continuing battle with our own waste. Some have said recently that pollution is a physical manifestation of the patholigies and sickness (read: baggage) that drive us to therapy.
We need to talk about the issues we have amongst us. Lord knows, we also need people who are interested not only in cleaning up the envrioment but also the phsyco-spiritual mess they have laid in their wake.
